Legal Jeeper Bylaws

Article 1: Name
1:1 The name of the organization shall be known as Legal Jeeper.

Article 2: Mission Statement
2:1 Help in the aid of creating new laws that advance the sport of off roading. Communicating with private land owners to keep the land open for responsible use. A club that wants to use the knowledge of all members to teach and have fun. Taking ownership of our own actions.

Article 3: Mission
3:1 To promote and educate the members on responsible off road recreation.
3:2 To provide care for the trails and maintain existing legal accessible off road routes.
3:3 To educate and promote existing state and federal law, keeping with a fun family atmosphere.
3:4 To provide support to any one of many charities of our choosing.

Article 4: Membership
4:1 Membership in this organization shall be open to any person of the general public regardless of race, color, creed, religion, or gender.
4:2 Memberships will be established upon the discretion of the Co-Presidents.
4:3 Membership includes one primary paid person.
4:3:1 Guests are the sole responsibility of the member, not Legal Jeeper.
4:4 Membership entitles you to the following:
4:4:1 Participation in all club sponsored functions.
4:5 Club functions (including but not limited to):
4:5:1 Scheduled meetings.
4:5:2 Trail rides.
4:5:3 Tech days.
4:5:4 Shows.
4:6 Each paid membership entitles one vote on any issues requiring a vote.
4:7 Each paid membership is valid only for the current year (January 1 to December 31).

Article 5: Vehicles
5:1 Vehicles must be Jeep type or sport utility vehicles.
5:2 Vehicles must be legally registered and insured. Antique plates are welcome.
5:3 Minimum tire size shall be 29”. Maximum tire size shall be 38". Vehicle width is limited to a maximum of 70".
5:4 All non-steel top vehicles must have a roll bar.
5:5 All vehicles must have working seatbelts for all occupants and must be used when vehicle is in motion.
5:6 Equipment
5:6:1 Tow strap.
5:6:2 One (1) front and rear tow point. (A hitch ball is NOT acceptable for safe pulling of another vehicle.)
5:6:3 Functional spare and jack.
5:6:4 Optional equipment.
5:6:4:1 First Aid Kit
5:6:4:2 Fire extinguisher
5:6:4:3 CB or FRS.

Article 6: Meetings
6:1 The Quarterly Business Meetings shall be held the first Saturday in the months of February, May, August, and November.
6:1:1 Any cancelled meetings will be rescheduled for the following Saturday.
6:2 The Co-Presidents will set guidelines as needed to help maintain diplomacy and civility.
6:3 General Association meetings can be determined by the gathering if five members, with at least one officer. This criteria being met, the meeting shall be determined a legal meeting for which the Legal Jeeper can conduct business.
6:3:1 The five officers may count as the five members.

Article 7: Governing Body
7:1 The governing body, also known as officers, consists of Co-Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary, and Recreation Officer, shall consist of five active members.

7:2 The Co-Presidents shall remain in office for the duration of the club Legal Jeeper.
7:3 The positions of Treasurer, Secretary, and Recreation Officer are two year terms.
7:4 All officer positions can be re-voted endlessly.

Article 8: Voting
8:1 There will be times when a general consensus of the club will require a membership vote.
8:2 All due paying members except Co-Presidents have one vote, and are entitled and encouraged to vote.
8:3 In the event of a tie vote, the Co-Presidents shall cast the deciding vote.
8:4 Issues requiring a vote shall be decided upon at meetings or via e-mail, which method will be decided upon by the Co-Presidents.
8:5 Votes needing immediate action can be voted on during a business meeting, providing the required number of members are in attendance.

Article 9: Conduct
9:1 All members of Legal Jeeper will respect the rights and property of others, including members, guests, hosts, and land donors.
9:2 All members are expected to obey the orders of the host or trail leader, in an effort to keep things safe and moving smoothly. Any unnecessary risk taking is frowned upon and will be dealt with immediately.
9:3 Members shall not remove, destroy, or damage in any way the property of any club member or property owner.
9:4 Any alcohol use before or during any trail ride or club event can and will result in disciplinary action. Controlled substances are illegal and therefore immediate expulsion from Legal Jeeper will result.
9:5 Failure, at any time, to follow any Federal, State or Local laws can result in disciplinary action.
9:6 Remember that you represent Legal Jeeper. Your actions will reflect on the club as a whole. Please be smart as others are always watching. Your decal can be traced to the club.

Article 10: Disciplinary Action
10:1 Should disciplinary action be brought forward against a member of Legal Jeeper for violating any of the criteria presented in the bylaws, the Co-Presidents shall decide the appropriate disciplinary action.
10:2 The offending member shall have thirty (30) days to appeal the decision in person or in writing. The Co-Presidents shall review the appeal and make an executing decision. That decision is final.
10:3 Expulsion from the club relinquishes membership from club and all its privileges. This will include payment of dues and/or money otherwise donated to club prior to expulsion.

Article 11: Amendments
11:1 Any amendments to an article must be approved by a majority vote of the members present at any scheduled meeting.
11:2 Article amendments must be posted on the website and/or e-mailed to each member prior to a vote to amend the bylaws.
11:3 Notice of proposed meeting for vote shall be posted on the website and/or e-mailed to each member.

Article 12: Dissolution
12:1 Upon the dissolution of Legal Jeeper, the assets of the club shall be distributed in accordance with the New Hampshire laws governing such actions.
